The owl fashion trend is by far the prettiest fashion trend at the moment. This trend has been making waves with both young and old and it seems as though everyone is wearing an owl in some form or another in order to liven up an outfit.
Owl Symbolism
The owl is a sacred symbol that harkens back to Athena, the Greek goddess of learning. In ancient Greek and Roman times, the owl was seen as a symbol of wealth and status. Furthermore, the owl has also been used in ancient Egyptian culture as a symbol of the protection of the dead and of those who had progressed to the underworld.
In mythology, the owl was a seer, a mythical being with an in-depth knowledge of the spiritual world. Even the Native Americans were intrigued by this beautiful creature and to them, the owl was a symbol of wisdom and it was also the keeper of cultural and traditional secrets.
Owls have therefore been associated with those who have a connection to the spiritual world for thousands of years!
Four Ways to Wear Owl Jewellery
Get creative with owl jewellery pieces and let them inspire your outfit. You can use an owl item to obtain completely different looks depending on the occasion or what you want to achieve. These are just some of the creative ways in which you can wear owl accessories:
1. Pretty Owl Ensemble
Owls lend themselves to feminine and flowing outfits. Team a gold owl pendant or owl ring with a pale pink ruched top. Add a floral or pleated maxi skirt in a similar colour. Throw on a lightweight scarve to complete an appealing, girly appearance.
2. Outrageous Owl
Strike a pose with a big, bold owl that takes centre stage. Find a large owl, be it a necklace, an owl cuff or chunky owl earrings. You may even find a loose-fitting owl print tee. Nevertheless, pair your bold owl with bright, casual garments for a playful weekend look.
3. Boho Owl
Combine an owl necklace with numerous other long chains and pretty pendants – wear these together with a loose-fitting outfit to achieve a bohemian, free-spirited look. Long chains work well with a flowing, carefree ensemble in neutral earthy colours.
4. Bling Bling Baby Owl
Bring out your colourful owl jewellery piece in the evening – where it no doubt belongs! Bling it up with a vibrant blouse, skinnies and bold wedges. Alternatively, team it with a short monochromatic dress, halfboots and a biker jacket for a killer look that is bound to get onlookers interested (or hooting of course!).
